Keep Your Victoria & Vancouver Kids Fit An important element in any British Columbia child’s health is physical activity. Most young Vancouver Island children are busy exploring their world and don’t need any encouragement to run, skip, or jump. But spontaneous activities like these may decline during the tween years when most North America children begin spending more time on indoor activities like TV watching, video game playing, and texting.

As Victoria & Vancouver parents we need to be more proactive during these years to make sure our kids are physically fit. Helping them choose a popular Victoria & Vancouver sport such as soccer, baseball, or skiing is an excellent way to encourage activity.

Provide active toys such as jump ropes, hula hoops, bikes, and roller blades and limit sedentary activities like movie watching.

Model the physically active behavior you want your Vancouver Island child to have. Take walks with your kids. Take advantage of Victoria & Vancouver recreational options. Go snow boarding, swimming, or hiking with them to show them that being active and fit is important to you.
